Cat Room Refresh Generator
Create a low-cost room refresh idea that improves scratching, climbing, hiding, water, or litter comfort.

What the room refresh is changing
Placement beats equipment. Most of the improvements this generator suggests cost nothing: moving water away from food, putting a scratcher where the cat already stretches, keeping a legal hiding place unblocked, and clearing a path that does not pass another cat’s sleeping spot. International Cat Care’s home guidance works from the same idea — a cat-friendly home is one where the cat can choose.
| Zone | What it needs | Frequent mistake |
|---|---|---|
| Feeding | Food and water separated, both away from the tray | Water bowl beside the food, next to a wall the cat must face |
| Toileting | One tray per cat minimum, quiet corner, clear exit | All trays lined up in one laundry room |
| Scratching | A post or pad beside the furniture that gets scratched | A post hidden behind a door |
| Resting | Warm spots at more than one height | Only floor-level beds |
| Refuge | An undisturbed box, crate or covered bed | Blocking every gap the cat chose itself |
If the refresh is happening because two cats share the space, the multi-cat maths applies: cats compete over shared resources, and a large share of feline stress comes from other cats rather than from people. Spread duplicates rather than tidying them together. Start with the home setup guide, and use the scratching guide if the sofa is the current battleground.
