How the reference shelf is chosen

Cat Cafe Central is an independent educational blog, so the outside reading we point to is deliberately narrow: veterinary schools, feline welfare charities and poison-control bodies that publish their own guidance and stand behind it. Manufacturers’ marketing pages and other blogs are not on the list, however useful they may be, because the point of a reference shelf is to be checkable.

Where a page makes a factual claim about cat care, the source sits in the fine print at the end of the section and the link goes straight to the original page rather than a summary of it. That is also why our own tools show their working: the age calculator and feeding estimator both explain the guidance behind the arithmetic. Our full approach to sourcing, corrections and disclosure is on the editorial policy page.
